Consider the smallest use
The same asset may appear as a tiny byline avatar and a larger biography picture. Keep the face clear and avoid relying on a background detail to explain the image.
Prepare the file
- Choose a current, recognisable frame.
- Keep an approved high-quality original.
- Supply a simple crop and any required credit.
- Keep the written biography separate from the image.
A picture with text embedded beside the face can become unreadable or cropped in a publisher's template. A clean image gives editors more flexibility.
Maintain the record
Track where you supplied the photo and update key publications when the image becomes materially outdated. Do not assume an online copy grants fresh reuse rights to every publisher. Clear permission and credit information prevent confusion between the author, photographer and website operator.
