Prepare the composition
Crop first if necessary and leave room for the destination's preview. Choose dimensions and quality that fit the current upload guidance rather than relying on an old universal preset.
Check the export
- Save the original separately.
- Export a clearly named JPEG copy.
- Open it locally and inspect the eyes and hair.
- Check the actual upload preview.
A very small file may look acceptable as a thumbnail but fall apart in a larger profile card. An unnecessarily huge file can create upload trouble without adding visible benefit.
Avoid repeated compression
If the destination rejects the file, return to the original for another export. Do not repeatedly save the previous JPEG at lower quality. The goal is a clean, compatible copy of a good photograph; exporting cannot repair blur or generate authentic detail that the camera never captured.
