Set a neutral starting point
Face a window or another broad light source and remove a few distracting objects from the frame. Keep the phone supported near eye level rather than placing it low on a desk.
Capture useful options
- Wear clothing appropriate to your actual work.
- Leave room around the head and shoulders.
- Take several relaxed expressions.
- Check the current profile crop before publishing.
A plain wall is enough if the light is good. A bookshelf can work too, but readable titles and bright objects should not dominate the small avatar.
Keep the result current
Choose a picture that colleagues would recognise now. Avoid heavy smoothing or generated credentials in the background. A professional portrait should communicate clarity and consistency, not imply a role or level of formality that does not match your work.
