Set the camera first
Check that the camera is not looking sharply down at you or up from the tabletop. Leave enough space to show the posture without cutting awkwardly through knees or hands.
Make small changes
- Sit near a comfortable edge of the seat.
- Let the shoulders settle.
- Rest your hands naturally.
- Turn slightly and compare with a straight-on frame.
A low sofa can pull the body into a slouch that feels different on camera than in person. A firmer chair may make the same relaxed expression easier to photograph.
Choose context that fits
A café, park bench or familiar room can work if the background is simple and the light is clear. Avoid staging a luxury setting that misrepresents your everyday life. The photograph should add a distinct, believable view of you rather than duplicate the main headshot from a lower position.
