Use the same viewing conditions
Place both at a similar size and avoid comparing an edited version with an untouched preview without noticing the difference. Check the actual crop you would upload.
Make the comparison
- Which has clearer eyes?
- Which expression feels more like you?
- Which background is less distracting?
- Which fits the intended profile role?
One frame may have slightly better posture while the other has a much more relaxed face. Decide which difference matters at the small size where the picture will be seen.
Stop when the difference is trivial
If both are clear and representative, choose one and move on. There may be no meaningful universal winner. Keep the alternative in your shortlist, but avoid turning a minor preference into repeated tests against unstable match counts or other people's conflicting opinions.
