Prepare comparable thumbnails
Use the same approximate display size without distorting proportions. Label each image with a simple number so you can discuss it without relying on filenames.
Review in two passes
- Check current likeness and clear faces.
- Remove obvious weak or redundant images.
- Assign a role to each remaining photo.
- Open finalists individually to check sharpness.
An image can look excellent on its own yet repeat the same café pose already represented by another. The contact sheet reveals that duplication quickly.
Do not select only by tiny previews
Thumbnails can hide blur, awkward hands and editing artefacts. Use them to organise the set, then inspect the actual files before publishing. Keep the process focused on a coherent, recognisable profile rather than choosing the most dramatic picture in every row.
