Compare the actual expression
Look at the eyes, jaw and shoulders together. Try a neutral expression after a relaxed conversation rather than deliberately tightening the face for a dramatic look.
Balance the set
- Keep the serious frame if it feels like you.
- Include another image with a different expression.
- Avoid several near-identical moody portraits.
- Ask a trusted person whether the set feels recognisable.
A thoughtful café portrait can add variety beside a clear smiling photo. Six dark, tightly cropped expressions may communicate less about your everyday presence.
